mmHmm (2011)

"mmHmm" is the 3rd set of recordings produced under the Unknown Quantity "umbrella", and the first in conjunction with the RPM Challenge and the first with musical collaborators, outside of Steve Peckman; the project's Curator. The 7 tracks each have their own character, but do fit together.

Shine Spotting (2012)

These meditations were inspired/commissioned by a program that my daughter ran at the beginning of March. She needed 5 7 or 8-minute pieces that matched a theme, and they had poetry read on top of them at the program. I recorded them all in February of course; improvised, live, no overdubbing over the course of a weekend. Each track features one instrument in particular, except for "Candles", which has two. Enjoy!

BIOGRAPHY

Unknown Quantity is the personal recording project of Steve Peckman, a New Jersey-based multi-instrumentalist. "Shine Spotting" represents the 4th set of recordings produced under this umbrella. The musical cast will evolve over time, in the spirit of being an "Unknown Quantity". "Ub4Q" is used in the URL's and on future "merch", to suggest thinking unconventionally, as typically U follows Q.
